This is a stand alone book, even though it is book 3. I did read book one, liked it too, but enjoyed this better. I didn't read book 2, because I usually don't spend $2.99 and buy books when author's offer them for $.99. It is on my Wish List through Amazon though.I enjoyed the h/H and the uniqueness in how they met. This needs some editing, but not enough to distract from the story.
There is HEA, but took forever to get to that point. The secondary character's were just as interesting which will bring a smile to your face, especially her brother.
There isn't a cliffhanger, but as in book one, would have enjoyed an Epilogue. It ends with the HEA, but I wanted to know more, because I liked the character's.
We have some passionate lovemaking, mildly explained, and not vulgar. Since I liked the H/h I felt a connection when they made love. Which isn't every chapter in the book as with some author's. Just placed just in the right spots.
I am not going into the premise of the story, but it is an enjoyable read. For the most part, just when I thought the miscommunication was going to last and last, it didn't. There was just one misunderstanding that went on near the end of the book, that I wanted to yell, but that was the only time.
So yes, I recommend this story. You have romance, HEA, no cliffhanger, lovemaking, intrigue, some suspense with enjoyable character's thrown in. (ljb)

Loved this story. Ms Jernigan has done a wonderful job in the development of her characters as well as the story line.
I loved this story of Trevor and Kristen's! I especially loved how they came to realize the truth in his Gradmere's words and how Hagen brought out the best in everyone! I highly recommend this book!!💜💜💜💜💜

This is an entertaining book. It is about Kristen Johnstone, who was kidnapped as a young child and grew up in the London slums. She becomes a pickpocket in order to support her self and the young boy that she had been told is her younger brother, Hagan. She tries to steal from Trevor Claremont, the Duke of Chatsworth, and ends up shooting him. This is a story on how he finds her, marries her and their life. It tells how Kristen finds her birth family and her fraternal twin, the kidnapping of Hagan, a murder and love. I did not want to put it down and read it with only bathroom breaks.
I read many of the reviews and almost didn't BUY this book. I'm so glad that I did! I thoroughly enjoyed the main. Characters and all of the plots twists and turns. Never a dull moment. Yes, it was sensual, but no more than many others I have read. Yes, she had a Scottish accent. Linguistically her sense of language and pronunciation would have been well established by the age of 5- when she was abducted. In retrospect, why that family never searched high and lo for her beats me. That would have been a different story tho!
I enjoyed the authors take on things and would not hesitate to purchase another one of hers. No, you don't get paid for decent reviews!
Beautiful love story! The time these two spent not telling each other that they loved each other is really sad.
Yes I know that this is what makes the story so exciting. Yet so much heartache could have been spared.
Why do people hold back how they feel when doing so only causes problems.
I must say The Wicked Lady is as good as if not better than the first two books, but I loved them all.

I loved reading The Wicked Lady (The Ladies Series Book 3). While I have not read the first 2 books, I am really looking forward to reading them. This book was beautifully written and kept my interest until the last page. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed the bantering between the hero and the heroine. I wish I knew more about the family secret between the couple's family, however, it would be explained in future books or in book 1 or 2. I highly recommend this book be added to your historical romance collection.
